Merry Post-Christmas

Posted Dec. 26, 2008 by Gabriel Hurley

Get it... "post"-Christmas...

Anyhow, only minor updates to the online realm today. Between family and another upcoming project I could only do so much.

However, I did do a couple things:

  1. Planned out some content strategy* for the website. (*If you're wondering what that is, see: Content-tious Strategy on A List Apart)
  2. Added a nice hCard header to ...

The new job hunting?

Posted Dec. 24, 2008 by Gabriel Hurley

In the next 31 days, I'm going to find a job by telling a story. The story I'm going to tell is about me finding a job by creating a website about me finding a job and leveraging the power of social networks and communication. And I'm going to do all that in a time when the economy is collapsing and most people would be thankful just to be employed at all.

Has greed become the sign of our times?

Last week my work raffled off a big screen HDTV in the process of closing up shop for, in some ways, the very last time. I was in charge of that raffle.

Despite the sadness that people felt; despite the importance of the closing; despite the inordinate amount of work that had to be done, over and over I heard ...

With limited fanfare, I'm very happy to say that the new website for the California Revels has gone live in a "soft launch" side-by-side with their existing site!

Take a look at the new California Revels website.

Come see the show this year! And tell your friends and family! And write reviews for the show online. Your word of ...

Thanksgiving Cranberry Margarita

Posted Nov. 29, 2008 by Gabriel Hurley

Here's a nice little recipe I came up with after hunting through my kitchen to see what leftover fruit I had:

In a blender, combine

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen whole cranberries
  • 3 oz Tequila
  • 2 oz Grenadine
  • 1/2 cup Sweet and Sour mix
  • Fill with ice

Blend the whole thing on a low setting until the ice ...

Photos From Tourettes Without Regrets Nov. 2008

Posted Nov. 10, 2008 by Gabriel Hurley

We had a great time working with Jamie DeWolf shooting the November Tourettes Without Regrets show as a follow-up to the impromptu clips we posted on YouTube from October. The show was a blast, from the Many Elements beatboxing set to Jaylee getting the audience chanting his lines along with him. The videos will be posted to YouTube in a few weeks, after the Revels site is done and the KGB/Ashkon footage is edited. But until then, enjoy the photos taken by Shelby Miller and Paul McMillan from the show

One of Zero Coordinate's recent web design projects is now live online.

"Where Are You Online?" is an online docuwebisode project exploring the shift from "entertainment" to "intertainment", and all that it entails.

For those of you that aren't in the know, a docuwebisode is a documentary-web-episode. The Where Are You Online series is exploring the change in ...

Tourettes Without Regrets Video Clips

Posted Oct. 9, 2008 by Gabriel Hurley

Paul and I went out and filmed Tourettes Without Regrets last week. For those of you who don't know, Tourettes Without Regrets is a twisted vaudeville cabaret of performances that range from spoken word to freestyle rap battle to dirty haiku competition to comedy, acrobatics, music and burlesque. It takes place on the first Thursday of every month.

We ...

Hurricane Video From Speak The Music

Posted Sept. 12, 2008 by Gabriel Hurley

Natalie performed her song Hurricane live at the last Speak The Music with a little help from Constant Change, Syzygy, and Monkstilo. It was a good performance, and I shot some basic video footage of it. I uploaded it to the ZeroCoordinate YouTube account, and you can check it out here:

On a related technical note, getting video to come ...

Talking about change and decisions

Posted Aug. 29, 2008 by Gabriel Hurley

This is a call for opinions and knowledge.

I had a conversation with a friend last night who came to a sudden state of uncertainty and fear about the need to make changes in their life--a life which is overall pretty good, but which isn't necessarily fulfilling all their needs anymore. And what became clear as the conversation went ...

Cheap, Working Google Checkout SSl Certificate

Posted Aug. 29, 2008 by Gabriel Hurley

First, the solution: $9.99 Comodo SSL Certificate from NameCheap.com

(Leave me a comment if this helps you! Thanks!)

Second, the explanation:
